Northstar
© 2009 Amanda Root/Andrew J. Root

My aspect shaken, ivory tower taken, lost innocence. Tossed by whim and naïve gale, all others pale.
Let me be your shoulder of comfort, be my constant strength. Ever all consumed, the newly bloomed fades away.
You are my Northstar, I am running, silently running, I am running to you.

Let me be your newfound solace, serene reprieve, be my peace. Cleave to me, I will to you, cherished beloved, constant one.
You are my Northstar, I am running, silently running, I am running to you.

My Northstar ever true, may I be the same for you. My Northstar ever free, may I be the one you see.
Ever longing, driving quest, for you I hunger unceasingly. Torrid connection, consummate attraction, ardent love.
You are my Northstar, I am running, silently running, I am running to you.

My Northstar ever true, may I be the same for you. My Northstar ever free, may I be the one you see.
You always remain, I wait here for you.

You are my Northstar, I am running, silently running, I am running to you.

That day started like so many before. That day never forgotten, yet forever lost.
That morning the universe collided and took you away. No chance for goodbye, I need you but you’re gone.
How do I summon the strength to travel this long road? Impossible burden, searing loss burns my heart.
How can I go on, how can life go on? How deep the pain. How dark this day,
I need you but you’re gone.

I’ll see you again, I’ll see you. Thank you again, I’ll thank you.

Thank you for the wisdom you imparted when I was young. Your legacy carries on, generation to generation.
My children wish to meet you, to know you, to laugh together. Your kindness and compassion reaches them, you live on.

I’ll see you again, I’ll see you. Thank you again, I’ll thank you.

You taught me so much, to make my own way. You gave me so much, helped shape who I am today.
Don’t let your dreams die, the gift of this beautiful day. Relationships matter most and God will never fail.

I’ll see you again, I’ll see you. Thank you again, I’ll thank you.

I’ll see you again, I’ll thank you again.

Last Winter’s Fleece
© 2008 Amanda Root/Andrew J. Root

Shorn from your bosom like last winter’s fleece. No longer clothed in the security of your peace. Quietly we untangle the triple threads, moving inevitably to our separate beds.

Break off remaining pieces our lives detach. Less afraid to be cripple, than trying to be your match. Quietly we untangle the triple threads, moving inevitably to our separate beds.

Let no man tear asunder, what we ourselves have plundered.
Never ending circle broken and shared vows spoken.

Drive you away, make it so you can’t stay. Just walk away, make your choice today.
Quietly we untangle the triple threads, moving inevitably to our separate beds.

Let no man tear asunder, what we ourselves have plundered.
Never ending circle broken and shared vows spoken.

I wrapped myself in your shining charisma, sure that we’d battle the world forever.
Grey inside, I’ve lived your lie, torn alive, an empty cry. Can’t deny that I’ve tried. I will survive.
I will not live your lie, I will not live your lie, I will not live your lie, I will not.

Carry Me
© 2008 Andrew J. Root

Your subtle allure promises much, feeds on my weakness, a comforting touch. Euphoric love affair, my social crutch.
That which empowers only weakens, taking pieces, the hole deepens. Moonless night, no hope in sight.

Carry me through these dark waters; Carry me away from my love.

Overcome by guilt; not another taste, desperate to have you, a perfect place. I drown in my desire, for you I waste.

Carry me through these dark waters; Carry me away from my love.

My addiction, affliction, conviction, derision, decisions that were made.
A life of contradiction, friction, restriction, a sad depiction, I’m afraid.

Carry me through these dark waters; Carry me away from my love.

Liberation, freedom, locked doors open.
You've brought me out, you've drawn me out, I am new.
You've brought me out, you've drawn me out, I am free.
You've brought me out, you've drawn me out, I am new.

Some Other Time
© 2008 Andrew J. Root

Bittersweet remembrance day, sentiments of you replay. Nostalgia the seductive liar, perfect picture evokes desire.
Haunting dreams of you persist, mementos of romance missed.

Looking back I see your face, some other time, some other place. Lying in the grass, the clouds pass by, never taking the time to cry.
Broken images across the sky, cracks on glass, a forgotten time.

Goodbye kiss never wanting to end, lovers entwine, lovers pretend.

Thoughts of yesterday race my mind, as yesterday’s memories remind. Whispers on the wind take me away, my resistance makes me stay.
Letting go, gettin’ back, breathin’ in, lost lovers pass.

Goodbye kiss never wanting to end, lovers entwine, lovers pretend.

Some other time, what would have been, lovers lament love come to an end.

Reflections of you portray the water gone past.

Goodbye kiss never wanting to end, lovers entwine, lovers pretend.

Alive
© 2008 Andrew J. Root

Lost on this dark road, apathy guides; inspiration dies. Edge of this breakdown, deepest pain found, before my eyes.
Spiraling aimless; failed intentions, assurance lost today. What was important no longer, what was real is stripped away.

You make me feel alive, love tastes sweeter than before. In your arms again alive, in your solace I’m restored.

From the death of a dying dream, resilient beginnings spring. This fire burning; marvel in the beauty it brings.

You make me feel alive, love tastes sweeter than before. In your arms again alive, in your solace I’m restored.

Distant horizon, end the storm. My fragile mind seeks the safety of your heart.

You make me feel alive, love tastes sweeter than before. In your arms again alive, in your solace I’m restored.
